The LuK peak torque limiter with a housing made of steel, aluminium or plastic has a number of switchable orifices within the hydraulic line. If an increased back-pressure occurs in front of the orifice due to slipping of the clutch, the orifice moves within a fraction of a second and limits the flow of fluid and hence also the closing speed of the clutch. This only occurs when engaging the clutch and thus prevents an overloading of the drive train due to a sudden clutch action.
